How to pick a mask to combat oily skin on the face

A shiny finish only looks good on the covers of fashion magazines. When it appears on a beauty's face, along with enlarged pores, it brings her nothing but discomfort. To get rid of this problem, cosmetologists recommend using natural facial cosmetics – in this case, active masks for oily skin. Before we uncover their secret ingredients, it is worth learning what causes this problem, as well as what the signs of its appearance are.

Causes of excessive facial oiliness

There is a close connection between hormones and the work of the sebaceous glands. The body produces sex hormones that affect not only sebum regulation (the process of producing subcutaneous oil), but also change the composition of these components. However, the following factors are also to blame for this disorder:

  1. Careless facial care. Irregularity in this respect leads to the formation of comedones (blackheads). Clogged pores do not bring sebum to the surface, so its production is disrupted. This is a common cause of acne and pimples.
  2. The ecological situation in the area. Factories, exhaust fumes and water provoke clogging of the pores.
  3. Illnesses. Most often these are diseases of the nervous system or the gastrointestinal tract. In this case, the foods consumed affect how the cells function. Thus, to process fatty or spicy elements, the cells have to use 20 times more energy. As a result, the system is overloaded and breaks down.
  4. Genetic predisposition.

Of course, avoiding many of these factors is impossible. Fighting them is also difficult. All that remains is to adapt. Masks are an option that always wins. But before you start using them, it is important to examine the condition of your skin.

Signs of the "insidious enemy" of healthy skin appearing

In order not to harm your body and face, you need to accurately determine your skin type. After all, in some cases clear flaws begin to be considered the norm. That is why dysfunction of the sebaceous glands is identified by the following signs:

  1. Visibly, sharply enlarged pores. The dermis resembles orange peel.
  2. A shiny and unnatural sheen on the face.
  3. The presence of inflamed areas (pimples or an acne rash).
  4. A careless appearance with a grey tint develops.
  5. Dozens of blackheads (plugs) of various sizes.
  6. A rough skin texture.

Once you have identified these signs, you can begin a series of cosmetic treatments. An attentive observer will notice that dozens of them are similar in composition, and even in the principle of their use.

How to get rid of oily skin on the face

Oiliness will never leave a woman's body, especially when it is a genetic or physiological pathology. That is why such masks for oily skin must be done regularly (at least once every five days) and correctly. Thus, cosmetologists' recommendations on this matter come down to three principles:

  • Oily esters or clay will help well – one of these ingredients must necessarily be present in the composition. Oil, green, white or black clay contains a number of trace elements that limit the production of oils. These ingredients also cleanse the skin's cavities and, most importantly, dry out the surface. Magnesium and zinc, which regulate sebum production, are considered important trace elements.
  • The mask should be applied only to steamed and necessarily clean skin. As a result, it will be easier for the active substances to collect the oily dirt from the surface, and with it the colonies of bacteria. Failure to follow this rule leads to micro-cracks.
  • Technical matters. The container for the mask should be made of plastic, glass or ceramic. It is forbidden to apply the substance to delicate areas of the body (near the eyes, nostrils or mouth). Masks should be kept on for 15 to 20 minutes.

In addition, all skincare products fall into four categories: moisturising, cleansing, nourishing and soothing inflammation. By understanding the causes of oiliness, as well as detecting its effects on yourself, you can confidently proceed to choosing one of these categories. The result of using them will be a matte skin tone that every cover model of a glossy magazine dreams of.
